Information about Roads and Pavements in Highland Council
Where the footpath is associated with an adopted road then it is included in the legal definition of the road and as such maintenance is the responsibility of the Roads department.
Footpath maintenance is carried out on an ad hoc basis as resource permits - there is no dedicated funding available through Transport Scotland / Scottish Govt etc. for any footpath / cycle path maintenance works.
Everyone is encouraged to use the Council’s standard fault reporting form
